Marshall Municipal Utilities hosts an open house each year to celebrate Public Power Week. During the open house celebration, we provide information on energy conservation, safety, rebates, programs available, and equipment demonstrations.

PowerTown Electric Safety Demonstration

We also have an Electrical Safety Demonstration kit that we use to teach some of the hazards that can be encountered around electricity, along with various safety videos and literature available.

Energy Usage Monitor

In an effort to assist our customers in controlling their energy costs and determining energy usage of household appliances, Marshall Municipal Utilities has a limited number of Kill A Watt™ electricity power monitors available for loan at no cost. The Kill A Watt™ electricity power monitor is an economical and simple tool to assess the efficiency of your electric appliances. Just plug any 115 Volt AC (maximum 15 Amp) electric appliance into the Kill A Watt™ meter and the large LCD display shows the power consumption of the appliance in kilowatts (kW) and kilowatt-hours (kWh). The Kill A Watt™ power monitor can calculate the electricity cost of the appliance by the day, week, month, or year. If your electric bills are high, the Kill A Watt™ power meter can discover how much energy individual electric appliances are consuming. The Kill A Watt™ electricity meter can also check the quality of your power by monitoring Voltage, Line Frequency, and Power Factor.
