» Home » About MMUMarshall Municipal Utilities (MMU) has been providing electric and water utility services to the City of Marshall for over 116 years. Marshall is a progressive community located in Southwest Minnesota approximately 30 miles east of the South Dakota border and 50 miles north of the Iowa border. Marshall has a population of 13,000 people. MMU is the 2nd largest municipal utility in the state in terms of retail energy sales at over 592,000 MWhs sold in 2009. MMU serves over 6,500 customers and has a peak demand of more than 89 megawatts. MMU's water treatment plant, built in 1999, processed 1.2 billion gallons of water in 2009 provided by 13 wells located in and around Marshall. »Governing BodyMarshall Municipal Utilities is governed by a five member utility commission. Commission members are appointed by the Mayor, and such appointments confirmed by the Marshall City Council; each commissioner may serve up to two consecutive five year terms. Our current utility commission consists of Al Greig as Chairperson, Don Edblom as Vice-Chairperson, Mark Malingen, Bill Ziegenhagen, and  David Grong. The Marshall Municipal Utilities Commission establishes water and electric rates for consumers.
